Bug And Bee Travels!: Vary Pasta @ Damansara Jaya

I know this place had been blogged to death by all bloggers, but I could not resist. After the trauma from the Charles and Keith warehouse sale in the morning, we went for some good ol comfort food: Pasta!

What better place than Vary Pasta in Damansara Jaya to satisfy our Italian cravings?

Getting here is a little tricky after the demolition of Atria Shopping Mall. Best way to get here is through NKVE from Subang Jaya to avoid the jam.

Check out the driving directions here! Do not be surprised if the Google maps ask you to drive through the small road. It is the correct way. The demolition site should be on your left, and you will see many pubs on your right before the restaurant.

We were there pretty early, about 6pm and there wasn't much of a crowd. We had the whole restaurant to ourselves. The waiter promptly handed us a menu.

We placed our orders and had a good chat while waiting for our food. It helps that the place was pretty quiet and cosy as well.

I had an orange juice (RM4.50), Bug had lychee drink (RM4.50), while Mandy had a warm cup of Milo (RM3.50 - not pictured)

I'm quite happy with the orange juice as it did not taste artificial, and it is freshly squeezed. Though the price is a bit steep for one orange juice. At least it is fresh. The lychee drink came from the can. Didn't really fancy it as I could make it myself for a fraction of the cost.

Vary's omelette (RM7.50)

Bug was hungry so he ordered an omelette for us to eat. At one glance, it looks really appetizing with the garnishings. At first bite, it was yummy! They were not stingy with their ingredients, there were mushrooms, ham, and capsicum inside. The omelette was cut into 8 equal slices as well, so it makes it easy for sharing!

Fresh mushroom soup (RM6)

The mushroom soup was thankfully not from the can. It was home made, with a variety of blended mushrooms topped with heavy cream. Mix this together and you will get cream of mushroom soup! Yummy! I could taste the chunkiness of the mushrooms. However, the soup was a little on the watery side even after mixed with the cream. Nevertheless, it is a great tasting soup. Great comfort food.

Mandy's Pork Chop (RM14.50)

The pork chop came with two choices, salad or pasta. Pasta is more filling, while salad is healthier. Make your choice! The pork chop tastes really scrumptious! The patty was really thick (approx 1.5 - 2 cm). It was nicely marinated with their home sauce, and lightly grilled on both ends. The result: Flavourful with a smokey finishing. Delicious and highly recommended!

Fettucine Carbonara with pork bacon (RM14.50)

I really like their carbonara. It is not very jelak, right balance of cream. The pasta was generously coated with the sauce with a little extra left behind. The bacon left a porky taste to the sauce, while the cheese sums it up. I personally prefer less sauce, or just enough to coat each spaghetti, but that is just my personal preference. Yummy yummy yummy!

Verdict: Total damage came up to be approx RM20 per person. I really enjoy coming here for my pasta fix (besides Italiannies) as they are really affordable and delicious! Their carbonara and pork chop was a hit between the three of us! I could not wait to come back here and try more food in their menu. Would definitely recommend this place!

After dinner, we met up with Choon Hui and had a good session of karaoke in e@Curve. We got a really good deal for this, as it was only RM24 for a 3 hour session for 4 ppl with snacks and drinks. Pretty good deal eh?
