Bread&Butter + Kung Fu Room (Pan Mee) @ Vivahome Shopping Mall

Today, I went to Viva Home shopping mall (Formally known as Ue3) after a looooonnnngggg time. My family used to head there back in Form 3 because of the big Hai-O shop there. Lol. Back then, it was pretty run down, and I was bored walking up and down seeing the same old yucky shops then.

From this...

Not any more.

Transformed into this!

Viva Home shopping mall had totally exceeded my expectations! From a scrummy and dodgy looking mall in my memories, it has now totally transformed into a furniture centre with a cinema to boot! There were actually people walking around in the mall.

The sole reason why I went to Viva Home mall, is to redeem a Dealmates voucher that I had bought way back in December. It was a voucher for slice of bread and a beverage at Rm4.90. Pretty good deal eh?

Dealmates

So we went to the restaurant and placed our orders. Click *here* for their menu. My parents and I ordered a cup of tea, hazelnut latte, and a double chocolate respectively.

Double chocolate

I didn't manage to drink the cup of tea that my dad ordered, but it came from a tea bag so it should be pretty standard. My mum's hazelnut latte was alright. Not a big fan of coffee. Probably need Bug's expertise on it to judge. Probably it was because I had the chocolate taste in my mouth which overpowers the coffee. My double hot chocolate was good! It does not taste so watery as I had expected from such shops.

While enjoying the drinks, the breads were served to us:

Clockwise from top left: Single kaya, peanut+kaya, Chocolate + Cookies

The kaya was generously spreaded on the bread and it was not overly sweet. They also did not stinge on the peanuts as well. However, the bread with the kaya + peanuts were a little on the dry side for me. But overall it is not too bad, just not my preference. Maybe those who like peanuts would like this combination. My cookies + chocolate bread was really good. The cookies that they had used were crushed famous amos. Yummy! Like the rest, they did not stinge on the cookies. I would prefer a little more chocolate on my bread so that it is not too dry as well. But again, it is just my preference. Overall, it sure is a really great combo!

Just look at the amount of cookies and chocolate!

Verdict: Give this place a try the next time you are in Viva home Shopping mall, and when you are craving for a snack fix, especially the cookies and chocolate combo. It is located on the third floor, near the cinemas and the food court, facing the main concourse area.

After having our bread fix, we hopped on to Kung Fu Room (I wonder why they called in the Kung Fu room? I don't see anybody practising their martial arts skills nearby) for our lunch. They specialises mainly in pan mee and noodles. A bowl of noodles costs RM7.90 + 10% service charge. Pretty affordable I feel.

First page of the menu

Menu itself

Since we were pretty filled from the bread, we just ordered a traditional pan mee (RM7.90), herbal chicken pan mee (Rm 11.90) and shui gao @ soup dumplings (Rm6.90) to share.

Plum lime juice (Rm3.90)

I ordered a plum lime juice to quench my thirst. I'd always been a fan of these kind of drinks, but not Bug. I am pleasantly surprised as this drink is quite kau. It means the drink is very thick and is not really diluted with water. My favourite! It is hard to find these kind of drinks nowadays, so I feel this drink is really worth the cash.

Herbal Chicken Soup (Rm11.90)

The herbal chicken soup was quite fragrant and tasty, which shows that it had been boiled for a long time to obtain the chicken essence taste. They were pretty generous with their chicken as they gave one whole chicken drumstick with loads of meat.

Traditional pan mee (Rm7.90)

I particularly enjoyed their traditional pan mee. The noodles were springy, not too soft and not too hard, while their soup is really good! It is not an oily dish, and the more you eat, the more you want! There were plenty of veggies, ikan bilis, and the black fungus in the dish. I felt that it is a very delicious dish and worth the price!

Look at the noodles! Yummy!

Try the noodles with the chilli provided. As the Malaysians put it: Damn syiok! (Extremely delicious)

The entire bill came up to Rm34.75 for the three of us. Not bad huh?

The front of the shop

Verdict: I believe that we had found a hidden gem in Vivahome Mall! The shop is packed with people during the lunch hour. Do not be fooled by their puny appearances, the portions are actually quite big! The bowl is pretty deep, and loads of noodles were hiding down there. This is one of the shops in shopping malls where they do not compromise the quality of the pan mee, with the price as it is very affordable. I really do recommend trying the traditional pan mee if you are nearby and is craving for a pan mee fix.

On a really unrelated note, I saw these Angry Bird cakes at the bakery near Giant. Aren't they so adorable? They look so fluffy!
